Counseling & Consultation
Psychotherapy and the conversations of therapy are gifts of our time and attention. These conversations provide an oasis in a world which moves too fast, where we frequently lose connection with ourselves, and the significant people in our lives. The urgent can overshadow the essential and elemental, leaving us feeling alienated and lonely.
The intentional moments of inquiry and exploration in therapy offer the opportunity to listen deeply to oneself and to the other, opening to the fullness of experience with both curiosity and compassion.
It has been said ‘that which is shareable is bearable.’ So it is that conversations in therapy create the possibility of both living gracefully with one’s past while moving creatively into this life.
Because we know there is a deep connection between our thoughts and our bodies, between our perceptions of our relationships and our experiences in those relationships, it makes good sense to turn our attention to the ways we think and make meaning of our world. It is our unique and fully human capacity to direct our attention to investigate our lives and relationships, to experiment, to learn, and to change. This is the fullest and most noble
purpose for therapy.
